Turkey's Erdogan expected in Pakistan next month: consul-general

KARACHI: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be visiting Pakistan next month, in March, Ankara's consul-general in Karachi said Tuesday.

Speaking at an event here in the city, Consul-General Tolga Ucak said the Turkish leader will be announcing fresh investment in Pakistan during his visit next month, set to coincide with Pakistan Day.

Ucak further mentioned that Turkey's relations with Pakistan were very strong and the two countries have always stepped forward together.

The consul-general stated that Turkey wishes for trade with Pakistan, including cooperation in the field of defence.

Turkish officials were in touch with their Pakistani counterparts in order to be part of the projects pertaining to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

On the other hand, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad is also expected to arrive in Islamabad next month for the Pakistan Day celebrations after Prime Minister Imran Khan extended an invitation to him.
