Pakistan Army’s alertness prevented possible Indian attack, says Qureshi

Qureshi says the situation has relatively improved at the LoC

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Monday that the Pakistan army's alertness prevented possible Indian attack at five sites inside the country. 

"The armed forces were alert, our intelligence was confirmed, diplomatic and military contacts played a role in stopping the attack. The civilian and military leadership was in contact [over the matter]," the foreign minister said in Geo News' Capital Talk.

The foreign minister said that the situation was improving at the Line of Control compare to the previous days.  

"The current crisis revolves around Kashmir issue. Pakistan is reviewing the Indian dossier which it received after 12 days. Pakistan will respond to it after due review," he said. 

The foreign minister said that had the previous government implemented National Action Plan with its due spirit, Pakistan would not have been in the FATF's grey list.

"Time has come to do what is in Pakistan's interest," he said. "We have to make a decision with political consensus. The international community has got the message that Pakistan wants peace."

The foreign minister said that the Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has asked for documentary evidence from the Modi government. "Their version has been exposed as they have admitted that two of their jets were struck down."

"The Kashmiris are giving sacrifices. No solution for Kashmir can be implementable without taking Kashmiris onboard. There was no mention of victims in Musharraf's Kashmir formula," he said.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan wants friendly relations with India but Kashmir is the main bone of contention between the neighbouring states. 

Qureshi said that the international community is stressing for dialogue between both the neighbouring countries. 

The foreign minister said that Pakistan is complety aware of relations between Israel and India. 

"They are in contact from long and shares intelligence reports with one another," he said.
