RAWALPINDI: Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor, while responding to fans requesting to wear army caps, said on Thursday that sports are beyond politics.

The DG ISPR tweeted that the armed forces acknowledged the love and support of the fans who wanted to wear military style caps and shirts in Pakistan Premier League’s final match.

“Sports are beyond politics and we believe that our bondage is beyond such gestures alone. Enjoy the game in the city of lights,” he said.

Pakistani fans had requested to wear military caps at the final after the Indian cricket team decided to wear army caps during the third ODI against Australia.

Last week, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said the International Cricket Council (ICC) should take notice of the Indian team for wearing military caps.
