DUBAI: The Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai has introduced social media platforms for expatriates to address their grievances and issues promptly.

The announcement was made by Consul General of Pakistan to Dubai Ahmed Amjad Ali during Pakistan Day celebrations of Pakistan Day at the consulate on Saturday.

“We launched consulate’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to enhance our service level and to interact with the huge number of Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE,” Ali said.

Speaking to the media, Ali expressed hope that social media platforms will help the diplomatic mission to resolve community issues. “Pakistani community can contact and interact with diplomatic officials through these social media platforms for their issues and problems," the consul general said.

He also stated that the consulate will restart mobile consular services in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Ajman and Sharjah for those community members who cannot visit the consulate due to various reasons.

About the existing dilapidated building of the consulate, Ali said the building will be demolished soon to construct a multi-purpose consulate.

Despite more than 1.6 million Pakistani expatriates living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the existing building of Pakistan Consulate in Dubai cannot even accommodate 100 people. According to the consulate’s figures, more than 500 people visit the mission daily.
