Nine-year-old Sargodha boy allegedly kills sister over marriage dispute

SARGODHA: A nine-year-old boy allegedly shot dead his sister, who, too, was a minor, over what police claim was a dispute pertaining to marriage, it emerged Tuesday night.

According to police sources, Ali Hassan, 9, reportedly killed his sister, 12-year-old Kausar, in Birbal Sharif, a village on the outskirts of Sargodha. He, alongside his father, then fled the house and were still on the run, as of reporting time.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against the brother in the Jhawrian police station on behalf of Nasar Hayat, the deceased's paternal uncle.

The FIR noted that the nine-year-old Ali Hassan had killed his sister over a marriage dispute. A search was subsequently underway for the father-son duo, police added.

Separately, the deceased girl's mother had earlier said her son had fired the gun by chance, not on purpose, and that that had caused Kausar's death.

Investigation, however, revealed that the deceased girl's parents had a dispute over her marriage proposal, which caused her mother to leave the house and go to her parents' home.

The deceased girl has been laid to rest.
