Dacoit killed in police encounter

FAISALABAD: A dacoit was killed in encounter with Ghulam Muhammad Abad police here, on late Thursday night.

According to a Police spokesman, three armed bandits riding on a motorcycle were signaled to stop near a police picket at 11:45 p.m. near Phattianwala Pul Jhang Branch Chak No.49-JB, in the precincts of Ghulam Muhammad Abad police station. The outlaws instead of stopping the 2-wheeler started indiscriminate firing at the police party.

SHO Ghulam Muhammad Abad ordered the criminal to stop firing and surrender themselves, but in vain. In retaliation which resulted killing of a dacoit on the spot while his two accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness.

The police also recovered a rifle 244-bore, 4 magazines and a bag filled with ammunitions from the possession of Mumtaz. (APP)
