BJP seeks Chidambaram’s resignation
NEW DELHI: The BJP on Friday sought home minister P Chidambaram's resignation, arguing that repeated goof-ups had humiliated the country.

The Left parties refrained from seeking the minister's resignation, but demanded action against those who committed the "bungling".

"BJP demands resignation of Chidambaram for the second goof-up about the list of 'most-wanted' fugitives sent to Pakistan," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar said.

"After Wazul Kamar Khan now it is revealed that Firoz Abdul Rashid Khan is in Indian prison…These goof ups have resulted in loss of face for India…It is also the worst kind of embarrassment for India vis-à-vis Pakistan."

The CPM Poliburo in a statement said, "The mistakes ... has shown up the concerned authorities and the home ministry in a poor light and compromised India's position in the matter."

The Congress, however, has dismissed the BJP's demand. "We do not run governments according to the BJP," said party spokesman Abhishekh Singhvi. The matter, he said, was serious and the party does not in any manner support it. (Others)
