ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said former premiers Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are to blame for the difficulties plaguing the country.

Addressing media here earlier today, Chaudhry said the raid by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at Shehbaz Sharif’s residence was in accordance with the law.

“Today’s NAB raid was according to the law but it was hindered. The process of accountability can’t be stopped,” he said.

Taking aim at Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Hamza Shehbaz, Chaudhry said “their fathers kept properties in their children’s names” to avoid accountability.

“Ask these people running the ‘Abu Bachao’ campaign, where is their money coming from? They don’t have any sources of income, yet they live like Arab kings.”

“It is in people’s interest that they are taken to their logical conclusion,” the minister vowed.

“Robbers in Pakistan cannot sleep due to fear. They are in danger,” he added.

A NAB team earlier today conducted a raid at 96-H Model Town, the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president and opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.

A press release by NAB said its team had gone to the residence to arrest Hamza Shehbaz on the basis of evidence against him in the assets beyond means and alleged money laundering case.

NAB officials had gone to the residence with an arrest warrant and the Supreme Court had stated that the accountability bureau did not require to inform any accused prior to arresting them, the press release added.
