SHEIKHUPURA: A man allegedly set a 17-year-old on fire over an ordinary dispute on Friday in the city's Khanqah Dogran area, authorities said, adding that the boy was in critical condition.

According to police, a spat had occurred between Mohammad Saad and Ehtesham a day prior that the neighbours had at the time helped settle. However, the next day, Ehtesham called Saad to his home, doused him in petrol, and set him on fire.

Police added that as a screaming Saad leapt out of Ehtesham's house, neighbours attempted to put out the flames and transported him to Lahore's Mayo Hospital, where he was declared to be in critical condition.

The teen's parents said police have not arrested the suspect involved in the incident despite having registered a first information report (FIR) the same day.

They consequently requested top officials to take notice of the incident.
