Two inmates die under mysterious circumstances at Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI: Two prisoners were found dead in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail under mysterious circumstances on Saturday morning.

According to sources, the two inmates who have been identified as Basharat and Abbas were serving jail sentence after being convicted in a drug-related case.

The bodies of the two inmates were found in the barracks, sources said, adding the condition of both the inmates deteriorated last night but the jail administration did not shift them to a hospital for treatment.

Sources further said inmates are not treated at Adiala with the hospital inside the prison not having adequate facilities.

Prison authorities said bodies of the deceased inmates will be handed over to their families upon completion of legal formalities.
