RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday conferred military awards on army personnel for acts of gallantry during various operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The investiture ceremony was held at the General Headquarters, Rawalpindi, the ISPR said in a statement. The ceremony was also attended by families of Shuhadas and Ghazis.

On the occasion, 35 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (military), 36 officers and soldiers were awarded Tamgha-e-Bisalat and 7 soldiers were awarded United Nations (UN) medal, the statement said. The medals of Shuhadas were received by their family members.

"We owe peace and stability to the selfless devotion and sacrifices of these officers and soldiers, who are our real heroes," the COAS said, paying rich tributes to Shuhadas and Ghazis.

"There is no noble cause than laying one's life for defence of motherland and the sacrifices of our martyrs won’t go to waste."

General Bajwa also lauded brave families of Shuhadas for the supreme sacrifices they rendered for the country.
