Sialkot woman set ablaze by husband, in-laws succumbs to burn wounds

SIALKOT: A woman who was set on fire allegedly by her husband and his family over a "family dispute" succumbed to her burn injuries Wednesday night after suffering for two days while admitted at a local hospital.

According to police, Sajjad — Saba's husband — had become enraged over a dispute and, with his father and sister, doused his wife in fuel before setting her ablaze.

The incident had taken place in Ashiqpur, in the Pasrur tehsil, two days ago and the victim was rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, where she passed away two days later.

Late Saba had two children with her husband, Sajjad.

Police further said a first information report (FIR) had been filed against Sajjad, his father, and his sister at the Sabaz Pir police station. The accused, they said, have fled their residence but raids are being conducted for their arrest.
