KARACHI: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Tuesday visited PNS Shifa and enquired after the health of the persons who were injured in a terrorist attack on air base of Pakistan Navy at PNS Mehran.
He met with all the injured personnel, one by one in the general and surgical ward and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. They told the Prime Minister that they would have been happy had they embraced martyrdom.
"After visiting the patients, I am happy and feel proud of the Jawans who despite injuries are determined to serve and defend the motherland," the Prime Minister said while talking to media persons briefly after visiting the security personnel.
He said the nation was proud of the personnel who embraced martyrdom and those who were injured in the 'Response Operation' at naval base against terrorists.
The security personnel of Navy, Rangers and Police showed extraordinary courage and fought gallantly to eliminate the terrorists and protect their colleagues and assets of Pakistan Navy, he added.
To a question, the Prime Minister said Defence Committee of the Cabinet would meet in Islamabad on Wednesday to review security arrangements in the country.
Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir and Interior Minister Rehman Malik also accompanied the Prime Minister.
