ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto said on Monday that the National Accountability Bureau cannot scare his party leadership with the threats of arrest.
Reiterating his stance against the NAB’s functioning as a black law, Bilawal said that there exist separate laws for the poor and rich.
“The law of the dictator and democracy cannot co-exist,” he said while addressing a press conference.
Bilawal said that the party members, who were always ready to sacrifice their lives for the country, cannot be intimidated by the NAB.
He said that the government needs to review its fiscal policy, adding that it needs to learn from the tenure of his party in 2008.
He said that despite the recession the PPP government ‘fought with international institutions’ for the sake of people.
He said that in the matter of fake accounts, the probe authority cannot utilise double standards.
Earlier today, Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad, where a third suspect offered to become an approver.
The court extended the interim bail of Zardari and his sister Talpur till May 9 in the money laundering and fake bank accounts case.
