ISLAMABAD: Former National Assembly Speaker and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Sunday rejected reports of Shehbaz Sharif not returning to Pakistan and said he will return to the country from London.

Speaking during an appearance in Geo News programme Geo Parliament, Sadiq said, “Shehbaz Sharif will return to Pakistan and if the Pakistan Peoples Party has an issue with the new chairman of the Public Accounts Committee then Shehbaz will continue as chairman.”

Responding to a question regarding a deal with the prime minister, Sadiq said no one is speaking to Imran Khan about a deal. “Who is telling him [Imran Khan] to come up with a deal? Nobody asked him for a deal,” he said.

“Niazi sahab should clearly tell us who he is asking for a deal. Those who Khan Sahab want to speak about a deal, he can do so in a closed room as well,” the PML-N leader said.

On the subject of prime minister’s statement in Iran, Sadiq said, “Was the prime minister’s statement given in Iran not a charge sheet against Pakistan? Article 6 should be imposed on the prime minister for this statement and his interview in the US newspaper.”

“If the concerned departments do not raise a question on the prime minister’s statement than it means it was given on their advice,” he said.

The former National Assembly speaker further said that they want to give the incumbent government a chance. “We do not want the government to be martyrs. They had said they will provide employment but now taking u-turns has become a norm for them,” Sadiq said.

Criticising the cabinet re-shuffle, Sadiq said, Abdul Hafiz Shaikh “came in a suitcase like Shaukat Tareen and will go back in one.”
