LAHORE: The teenage son of the Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP) senior leader, Qamar Zaman Kaira, passed away Friday evening in a road accident in his hometown Lalamusa, a party spokesperson said.
Rescue sources said Usama Qamar's vehicle was moving at a high speed when it rammed into a tree, resulting in fatal injuries. He was a student at the Government College Lahore.
Kaira, the president of the party's Punjab chapter, was at a press conference after attending a meeting of senior PPP leaders when he received the tragic news.
The party spokesperson said Kaira immediately departed for his hometown after hearing about the accident.
In a message released by the spokesperson, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari expressed their grief over Usama Qamar's untimely death and offered their condolences to the PPP leader and his family.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed his heartfelt grief on the sad demise of Usama Qamar. "May Allah gives strength to bereaved parents and family to bear this irreparable loss," the army chief said.
