OGRA recommends up to 47pc hike in gas prices for next fiscal year

Apart from 47pc hike in price in SNGPL system, OGRA recommended 28pc in SSGC system

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended an average of 47 per cent hike in SNGPL system and 28 per cent in SSGC system, says a spokesman for the regulator.

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended up to 47 per cent increase in the prices of gas for the fiscal year 2019-2020, according to a spokesman for the regulator.

The spokesman said Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had requested the regulator for 144 per cent hike in gas price, whereas Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sought 30 per cent increase.

He said public hearings were held on requests by the gas supplying companies in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

The spokesman said OGRA has recommended an average of 47 per cent hike in SNGPL system and 28 per cent in SSGC system.

He said a final decision regarding increase in gas prices would be made after approval from the federal government.
