RAWALPINDI: A local court on Sunday handed over four accused of being involved in the gang-rape of a student to police on a five-day physical remand.

The accused including three police constables and a driver were presented before a duty magistrate today. The accused are: Muhammad Naseer, Rashid Minhas, Muhammad Azeem and Amir.

Meanwhile, Rawalpindi CPO Captain(retd) Muhammad Faisal Rana said that the suspects showed no remorse or embarrassment over the incident and the police will make sure that an example is made out of the case.

“We will make sure that the girl gets justice,” he said. “I am closely supervising the investigation. Police should give an impression of security to the people if any of my force members is involved in such act we will bring him to the task.”

The Punjab IG Arif Nawaz has directed the cpo to contact the girl and affected family and has reportedly said that he won’t tolerate such incidents.

“There is no place for such individuals in the force,” he said.
