SARGODHA: The chief minister of Punjab on Wednesday took notice of an acid-throwing incident after the teenage survivor was recovered late night, a day prior, here in Miani village.
According to police, the suspect — identified as adoptive father Pir Aziz Shah — has been arrested from Mandi Bahauddin. A*, the 17-year-old survivor of the horrific acid-throwing incident, was recovered late Tuesday night.
Police added that Pir Aziz Shah did not have any offspring, which is why the father of A*, the survivor of the horrific acid-throwing incident, gave her to him as an adopted daughter two years ago.
Later, however, when she asked him for permission to marry by her own choice, he allegedly doused her in acid and locked and hid her in a room in his house.
According to the survivor's brother, on the other hand, Pir Aziz Shah refused to open the door to the room he had locked A* in when a child had stubbornly demanded it be opened during a wedding festivity. He had said he had trapped a jinn (djinn) in the room.
Interestingly, the biological father had filed a request against the suspect — now arrested — with the police on April 29.
Separately, Dr Shahbaz Gill, the spokesperson for Punjab CM Usman Buzdar, subsequently met A* and her family in the Dinga area of Gujrat and assured that all possible medical treatment, as well as justice, would be provided to her.
Gill met the survivor and her family after Buzdar took notice of the incident, assuring the family that he would get her justice and that her treatment would be free of cost.
