GUJRANWALA: Two minor girls have been kidnapped in the city during the last 24 hours, police said on Saturday.

The first case involves three-year-old Zameer Fatima who was kidnapped from the Saeed Park area of the city. Seven-year-old Amina was kidnapped from the jurisdiction of the Wala Bazar police station.

Police said cases have been lodged, adding that both the minor girls were kidnapped from outside their homes.

Last week the body of ten-year-old Farishta was discovered in Islamabad after she had been allegedly raped and murdered. An FIR was lodged against police officials over negligence, alleging that they failed to act in a timely manner when Farishta’s family first reported her missing.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also took notice and ordered action against police officials for negligence in the case. "It is a failure of system that police staff forced the children of affected family to clean their offices. Departmental proceedings be initiated against the perpetrators and finalised expeditiously," said a statement by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
