ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Tuesday expressed hope that his government would overcome economic and financial challenges in the next few months.
The prime minister said so during his meeting with senior vice-president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Babar Awan. The two figures met here in Islamabad and exchanged views over constitutional, legal, political and other affairs.
"Safeguarding public interests is top priority of the government," PM Khan said at the meeting. "It is the responsibility of the state to take care of underprivileged class of the society."
He said the direction for national development had been identified and the coming times would bring prosperity with them.
"[We are] making every possible effort to steer the country out of crisis. It is hoped that economic and financial challenges would be overcome in the next few days," the prime minister said.
He said they believed in the rule of the constitution and law, adding, "Neither we will become a hurdle in the way of accountability, nor will we let anyone become".
On the occasion, Awan said opposition parties were raising hue and cry only to avoid accountability.
"Opposition parties neither have street power, nor public support," he said. "Corruption at lower level would end only if big shots were held accountable."
The PTI leader said the entire nation wants to see accountability being conducted and justice done.
He said soon the individuals on the run would be brought to the country and justice.
