RAWALPINDI: Renowned mountaineer Mohammad Ali Sadpara of Skardu climbed 8485-metre Makalu peak on May 24 in Nepal, the fifth highest mountain in the world.

Sadpara became the only Pakistani mountaineer to have climbed seven peaks of over 8,000 meters in the world.

His expedition was facilitated by Pakistan Army, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Another mountaineer Mirza Ali Baig from Hunza also successfully climbed Mount Everest on May 22, accomplishing the distinguished accolade, the statement read further.

Baig became the first Pakistani to have scaled seven summits in seven continents.
