NOTTINGHAM: Pakistan and England will be facing one another in the sixth match of ICC Cricket World Cup at Trent Bridge today. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm (PST) and 10:30 am (Local time)
Sarfraz’s XI already lost their opener match of the tournament against West Indies whereas, Morgan’s XI won their first match against South Africa.
Following will be the key players for the match:
ICC T20I top-ranked batsman, Babar Azam, is one of the most essential assets of the Pakistani cricket team. He has a stunning ODI average of more than 51 and a decent strike rate of 92+.
Azam has scored more than ten centuries and twelve fifties against death bowling line ups. He was the top scorer for Pakistan’s opening match against West Indies, scoring 22 runs alongside Fakhar Zaman.
Fakhar Zaman has an impressive average of more than 57 in the last two years, including a heroic innings against India India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final, leading Pakistan to a massive victory by 180 runs.
Zaman also scored 138 runs against England in the first ODI match of the 2019 Pak-Eng series. He was the top scorer for Pakistan against West Indies in their opening match, alongside Babar Azam for scoring 22 runs.
Mohammad Amir has always been lethal to opponents and a key player for Pakistan. He has taken more than 50 wickets in One-Day International matches with an economy of 4.78.
Amir’s return to the World Cup squad has given hope to Pakistan as he picked up three wickets in a splendid spell against West Indies in their first match.
Ben Stokes produced a fine all-round display as England began their quest to win the World Cup with a 104-run thrashing of South Africa in the tournament opener.
The all-rounder top-scored with 89 in England's 311 for eight, held a brilliant catch and took two for 12, including the last wicket, as England won with 61 balls left.
Stokes has scored 2306 runs in 85 ODI matches (72 innings) with a decent average of 38.42, including three centuries and sixteen fifties. He is as good with the ball as he is with the bat, picking up 65 ODI wickets in 85 matches (70 innings), including 5-wicket-haul.
In a young career of four ODI matches, Jofra Archer did a venom-filled spell against South Africa during the tournament opener match, when his bouncer struck Hashim Amla and he had to leave the field (retired hurt).
His bowling pace is electrifying and there’s always a buzz of getting a wicket after every delivery that he bowls.
The young man can turn out to be a very precious and astounding element for England’s bowling line up.
