Crackdown against benami property holders in budget proposed

ISLAMABAD: The upcoming budget for this year will have the proposition to initiate crackdown against the holders of benami properties, sources informed on Monday.

According to sources, for crackdown, an authority and tribunal will be established, for which approval will be given to hire 10 people of grade 17 to 21.

The authority will be tasked with sending notices to the owners of benami properties.

The new budget for the current year will be presented in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The main targets were not met in several fields including economic progress, agriculture, industries, manufacturing etc. The inflation rate rose to 9.1 percent from six percent.
