BRISTOL: Bangladesh will be aiming to get their World Cup campaign back on track when they take on Sri Lanka in the sixteenth match of the World Cup at the County Ground in Bristol today.
With two back to back defeats, one against World Cup hosts England and the other against New Zealand, a spirited Bangladesh will be looking to get back on its feet.
Bangladesh launched their World Cup campaign by putting on their highest ODI score of 330-6 in the 21-runs win against South Africa, however, they lost the winning momentum after that.
Wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan have impressed for the Tigers with their batting, yet the rest of the Bangladeshi batting line-up is yet to impress in the tournament.
Despite Shakib’s ton of 121, Bangladesh could not beat England as they lost the game by 106 runs.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka needs players such as Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera to start scoring and contributing towards a bigger score.
The Islanders lost their opening game of the tournament to New Zealand by 10 wickets, however, they bounced back in the game against Afghanistan winning by 34 runs int he rain-hit match.
Their third match against Pakistan was called-off without a ball being bowled, leading to a point apiece to each team.
Nuwan Pradeep, the match-winning asset of Sri Lanka who took four wickets against Afghanistan, will miss out on today's game due to dislocated finger.
The match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will begin at 2:30pm Pakistan Standard Time.
