TANDO MUHAMMAD KHAN: The suspects in the alleged rape and forced intoxication of a 13-year-old gypsy girl were identified by the survivor on Monday when she and the predators were presented in front of the judicial magistrate.

Consequently, the judicial magistrate permitted the girl to go home with her father.

According to Zulfiqar Talpur, the senior superintendent of police (SSP), the accused would be given the strictest of punishments after recording the statement according to Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Suspects sent on four-day remand to police

A day prior, the suspects were sent on a four-day physical remand to police. According to Salahuddin Rustmani, the station house officer (SHO) for City, the suspects, who had raped the girl three days ago, were presented in a special magistrate's court.

The police official had said the survivor was undergoing treatment in Tando Muhammad Khan District Hospital. Separately, civil society had staged a protest outside the Hyderabad Press Club wherein they demanded strict punishment for the rapists in order to set an example.
