RAWALPINDI: National Accountability Bureau Rawalpindi approved on Tuesday former president Asif Ali Zardari’s request for provision of two medical attendants.

According to NAB sources, Zardari’s two attendants Nehal Chand left for Rawalpindi to tend to the former president. The other attendant is expected to reach later today.

In a letter, the former president, who was arrested yesterday in the fake accounts case, requested that he is facing various health problems and needs as attendant to be present with him round the clock.

Zardari had written in the letter that if he doesn’t get the attendants then he can face lethal consequences to his health.

On Monday, a team of NAB officials reached the Zardari House in the federal capital hours after a bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC)  had rejected a plea filed by Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur, seeking an extension in their interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.

In the orders it issued, the IHC allowed the NAB to arrest Zardari and Talpur, both of whom, now, have the option to appeal the order in the Supreme Court.

The case pertains to transactions worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the two leaders' private companies, allegedly, through fake bank accounts.
