MIRPURKHAS: A 16-year-old girl who was subjected to a horrific gang-rape on Thursday attempted suicide over the Satellite Town police's behaviour in the case filed over the sexual assault.

The minor girl reportedly drank poison and was transferred to Civil Hospital in a critical condition.

On Thursday, three suspects, including a neighbour, had been arrested for allegedly gang-raping the 16-year-old in the city. The FIR read that the girl had stepped out the night before to buy groceries but, on the way, the three alleged predators had kidnapped and taken her to a deserted area where they sexually assaulted her.

The three alleged gang-rapists had filmed the entire ordeal and had threatened the survivor to make the video viral if she dared to tell anyone about the sexual assault.

They were, however, arrested after the initial report of a medical check-up carried out on the survivor at Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas confirmed that the alleged gang rape did indeed occur.

Doctors at the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas confirmed on Sunday that the girl had attempted suicide and was being treated.

The survivor's family alleged that the girl dispirited by the police's behaviour had taken this extreme measure and attempted suicide.

On Thursday, police had said the DNA samples were being sent to Islamabad for further verification of the alleged gang rape.
