ISLAMABAD: The first Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Sportswoman of the Year Award 2010 was shared by two players, Naseem Hameed and Sara Nasir on Saturday here at Pakistan Sports Complex.
Naseem and Sara received the award for winning gold in the 11th South Asian Games 2010. Another Z.A Butto Shaheed Sportsman of the year award 2010 was given to Salman Akbar (hockey, goal-keeper) for his performance in 16th Asian Games.
Syed Ameer Hamza Gilani, Director General, Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) gave a cheque amounting to Rs one million to Salman Akbar while Naseem and Sara shared the award money or Rs. 500,000 each.
On the occasion, the DG said that to encourage the women players, they have initiated the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Sportswoman of the Year award.
