KARACHI: Somali pirates have released four Pakistani hostages after 10 months in captivity, Geo News reported.
One of the hostages released by the Somali pirates told Geo News that his captives had threatened that they would kill him. Captain Wasi thanked the nation and the media for the role they played in securing his release and gave special praise to human rights advocate Ansar Burney. He said that he had only been fed rice and spaghetti during the entire ordeal.
Captain Wasi also spoke to his wife and children through efforts made by Geo News and said that he could not wait to meet his family. He told his wife to look after their children and asked his daughter not to shed any further tears as they would be united soon. His daughter Laila told him to look after himself.
The four Pakistanis were part of a shipping crew who had been taken hostage by Somali pirates and held in captivity for ten months. The crew also included Indians, Egyptians and Sri Lankans. Human rights advocate Ansar Burney who was instrumental during the entire process of their release, praised the role which was played by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad and ISI chief Shuja Pasha.
