KARACHI: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is set to organise the National Women Football Championship's twelfth edition, with qualifying round to run September 16-22.

The PFF has advised its affiliated women football teams to enter their teams into the tournament latest by August 31. The championship's qualifying round would be played at four centres — Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar — on the aforementioned dates.

The final round would run from September 28 to October 7 in Islamabad, with two top teams from each centre qualifying for the final.

PFF President Syed Ashfaq Hussain Shah, in this regard, said the football activities for women have almost ceased to happen in Pakistan, thereby contributing to a higher increased sense of deprivation among the valued women footballers.

"This national event will help in reviving our female footballers interest in the game.

"By organising the event simultaneously in four big cities of the country, we aim to bring our female footballers again in the national football loop,” he said.

Shah noted that the tournament would be held in a befitting manner and expressed his hope that it would help revive football for the women players as well.
