GILGIT: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the formation headquarters at Gilgit on Saturday where he addressed the formation officers and troops.

Speaking to the soldiers, Gen Bajwa appreciated their state of readiness and morale, despite the demanding challenges of difficult weather, harsh terrain, and the enemy at the highest battlefield of the world.

Addressing the troops, the Army chief said the armed forces of the country were ready to respond to any misadventure from India, given the situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

"We are alive to threat from Eastern Border linked to ongoing situation in IOJ&K and fully prepared to thwart any misadventure or aggression," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military's media wing, quoted him as saying.

During his visit, the COAS also laid a floral wreath on Shahada (martyrs) monument.
