Apple will supply parts to independent repair shops

 

CUPERTINO, California: Apple for the first time will supply parts for its products to independent repair stores, the technology company said in a press release on Thursday.

“To better meet our customers’ needs, we’re making it easier for independent providers across the US to tap into the same resources as our Apple Authorized Service Provider network,” said Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams.

“When a repair is needed, a customer should have confidence the repair is done right. We believe the safest and most reliable repair is one handled by a trained technician using genuine parts that have been properly engineered and rigorously tested,” he added.

According to the press release, Apple is launching an independent repair provider program which would be free of cost to join. In order to qualify, businesses would be required to have an Apple-certified technician as part of their team.

In the past year, Apple has launched a successful pilot with 20 independent repair businesses in North America, Asia and Europe.
