KARACHI: The Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed concern over the situation in occupied Kashmir, due to India’s ‘unilateral decision’ to revoke Article 370.

In a press release, the OIC said that its secretariat expresses solidarity with the people of occupied Kashmir, calling for the immediate lifting of curfew, respect for fundamental rights and restoration of communication networks.

“The General Secretariat reaffirms the United Nations Security Council Resolutions on the internationally recognized status of Jammu and Kashmir dispute and its final disposition through a UN-supervised plebiscite,” stated the press release.

Acknowledging the need to resolve the Kashmir issue under the United Nations Security Council resolutions, the OIC also placed emphasises on resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan to ensure peace in the region.
