The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has cancelled the accreditation of a TV reporter who had reportedly misbehaved with Pakistan and Sindh captain Sarfaraz Ahmed during a press conference over the weekend, Daily Jang reported on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Sarfaraz was purportedly asked questions regarding the national team’s recent home defeat to Sri Lanka, even though the press conference was for the benefit of the National T20 Cup taking place in Faisalabad.

Some media reports had even stated that the Karachi native had become so upset that he had quit Sindh’s captaincy, forcing Asad Shafiq to stand in for him.

The PCB, as per Jang, has taken action against the said reporter and revoked his media accreditation, also informing his TV channel of its decision.

A PCB spokesperson further told the Urdu daily that “the board’s policy regarding the media is clear.”

“The cricketers are our heroes and stars. They can certainly be asked questions but no one will be allowed to misbehave or cross the boundaries of decency,” the spokesperson added.

Sarfaraz has been under immense pressure since World Cup 2019, largely due to the team’s performances but also because of his own form with both bat and behind the wickets.
