Days after being dropped and sacked from the national team, Sarfaraz Ahmed agreed to resume the captaincy of his provincial side Sindh in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

Sarfaraz on Monday captained Sindh in the fifth round fixture of the tournament, relegating Asad Shafiq to stand-in duty.

Shafiq had stood in for Sarfaraz in the National T20 Cup after the latter abruptly relinquished the role following a spat in a press conference with a reporter.

Shafiq, however, has to link up with the national team in Australia for the Test series, meaning that Sarfaraz has assumed leadership responsibilities again for Sindh.

PCB replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed in both Tests and T20Is, handing the responsibility to Azhar Ali and Babar Azam respectively.

The PCB had made this decision in the light of chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq’s recommendations, who was reportedly displeased with Sarfaraz’s ability to captain the team.
