LAHORE: A 'qari' — or religious teacher — was arrested on Monday for sexually abusing multiple minor children during private lessons at their homes, a spokesperson for the investigation branch of the city's Sanda police station confirmed.
According to the spokesperson, the alleged sexual predator — identified as Qari Mukhtar Ahmed — was teaching little children at their homes for the past four years.

The parents of these minor children started to secretly observe the religious lessons after the kids complained that Qari Ahmed was touching them inappropriately.
On one instance, the parents of a nine-year-old caught Qari Ahmed engaged in inappropriate acts with the child, whereafter they registered a first information report (FIR) with the police, who subsequently arrested him.

The alleged sexual abuser taught multiple children.
The children told the police that Qari Ahmed used to threaten to kill them if they ever complained to their parents about his sexual misconduct.
