KARACHI: The Anti-Terrorism Court-I Karachi, headed by Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso, Saturday rejected the plea submitted by the accused in Sarfaraz Shah murder case to transfer case from ATC to Sessions Court, Geo News reported.
The court ordered four witnesses to appear before court on July 4.
The application moved by seven accused, sought transfer of proceedings from ATC to Sessions Court stating members of law enforcement agencies could not be tried under Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
Judge Bashir Ahmed while rejecting the plea ordered the lawyers to start recording witnesses’ statements from Monday as the case has already been delayed and the Supreme Court has asked the court to complete the investigations in 30 days.
The seven accused include Sub-Inspector Bahaur Rehman, Lance Naik Liaquat Ali, Constables Mohammad Tariq, Manthar Ali, Shahid Zafar, Afzal Khan and private contractor Afsar Khan. They are on trial in ATC for murdering unarmed youth Sarfaraz Shah at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park in Karachi on June 8, 2011.
