KOTRI: A man opened fire on his mother-in-law over suspicion that she had let his wife go with a stranger two days ago, injuring her here in the Jamshoro taluka, but the woman succumbed to her gunshot wounds Monday morning, police confirmed.

However, the statements issued by the police and the deceased's husband were contrary to each other, raising doubts about what really transpired.

According to Kotri police, the suspect — identified as Mir Shah — had shot his mother-in-law, Nazar, over what they say he thought was facilitation on her part in letting his wife go with a strange man.

However, the deceased's husband said the suspect had proposed that his mother-in-law's second daughter marry his brother but she had refused. That, Nazar's husband claimed, was why Mir Shah shot her dead.

Late Nazar had been admitted to the hospital since the past two days but succumbed to her injuries earlier today. Kotri police said they were carrying out raids to search and arrest the suspect.
