KARACHI: The district municipal corporations (DMC) on Wednesday initiated a dog-culling campaign in multiple neighbourhoods of the metropolis, killing dozens of canines by administering poison to them.

Expanding from Pehlwan Goth and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the dog-culling campaign is now being carried out in Gulistan-e-Johar, Lines Area, and Khudadad Colony, the chairperson of District East, Moid Anwar, said.

Can animal rights activists win fight against cruel killing of stray dogs?

Multiple dogs were poisoned to death in Lines Area and Khudadad Colony, Anwar noted, vowing further that all "mad dogs" would be put to death in District East.

The DMC East chair added that the government of Sindh had permitted poisoning and killing the dogs until a plan to catch and neuter them was implemented.
