Gujranwala man strikes wife with brick on the head, killing her over 'domestic spat'

GUJRANWALA: A man on Monday struck his wife with a brick on her head during what police termed was a "domestic spat" and killed her.

According to authorities, the murder took place in the Ibrahim Park neighbourhood in the Jinnah Road police station's jurisdiction. The deceased's husband — identified as Babar — was reportedly under influence and had fled after killing his wife, they added.

Gujranwala police further noted that the deceased, Mariyam, and Babar had gotten married eight years ago and that the suspect was an addict. When a fight broke out between them earlier today, he violently attacked her before slamming her head with a brick and killing her, they said.

The woman died on the spot, police said, adding that they have registered a first information report (FIR) on behalf of the deceased's brother.
