A heart-warming story involving an Indian taxi driver in Australia, and five players of the touring Pakistan cricket team, has gone viral on the internet and garnered lots of praise for the Pakistan cricket team.
According to a video posted on the social networking website Twitter by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, a kind gesture from the players of the Pakistan cricket team last week impressed an Indian driver.
In the video, a commentator describes the story in full detail, alongside Australian cricketing star Mitchell Johnson. The tale involves a taxi driver who picked the commentator up to take her to the Gabba last week.
The taxi driver reportedly told the commentator that five Pakistan cricket team players, including Yasir Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah, hailed his taxi last week to go out and eat at a restaurant.
After requests from the taxi driver for selfies with the cricketing stars, who are popular in India, the Pakistan team players not only posed for photos, but also invited the taxi driver for a meal alongside them.
According to Alison Mitchell, the commentator who narrated the story, the invitation for the meal came when the Indian taxi driver refused to take the taxi fare from the Pakistan players out of respect for them.
In response, the Pakistan team players invited the Indian driver to have a meal with them, who gladly accepted the invitation and proceeded to the restaurant with the Pakistani players.
The video has garnered lots of views on social media and cricket fans in both India and Pakistan have praised the exemplary conduct of the Pakistan cricket team players at a delicate time for the two countries.
It is pertinent to mention that India has refused to play bilateral cricket with Pakistan over the past few years, citing security reasons. However, the reaction to the recent video suggests that cricketing fans want the two teams to resume cricketing ties.
