KARACHI: There is enough sugar stock available in the country and it would unethical to raise the price of the commodity ahead of Ramzan, Geo News reported. The supply of sugar for the 2010-11 season is 4.7 million tons while its demand is 4.3 million tons.
The monthly output of sugar is 350,000 tons and currently 2 million tons is in stock. This means that the current stock will last till December 25 and it is expected that the supply will increase during crushing season in November.
Experts add that with adequate supply in hand it would be unethical to raise the price of sugar in Ramzan and the government should take strict action against this.
