MULTAN: A man who killed three people, including his wife and toddler, with an axe over 'suspicion', was arrested hours after the incident, police said.

According to the city police officer (CPO), Zubair Dreshak, the murder took place in Multan's Muzaffarabad locality. The accused — identified as Yaseen — attacked and killed three people at his home with an axe over some suspicion before fleeing the crime scene, he added.

The deceased included his wife and nine-month-old daughter, the police officer said.

CPO Dreshak noted that an investigation via technical method led police to find and nab the suspect just hours after the killing took place. They recovered the murder weapon as well, he said.

A first information report (FIR) was registered on behalf of the deceased's brother.
