Beds reserved for transgender people in KP's govt hospitals

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's health department has announced to reserve separate beds for transgender people in government hospitals, in what comes as an unprecedented step in favour of trans rights.

According to a notification, 74 beds have been allotted to transgender folks in various government hospitals of Peshawar. The department has decided to provide 200 beds all over the province.

These beds would be available in 19 medical facilities in the province's 15 districts. The moves comes in accordance with the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018, authorities said.
