ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Saturday that PML-N MNA, Anjum Aqeel should turn himself over to the authorities and no one will be unfair to him, Geo News reported. The Interior Minister was speaking to the media after a high-level meeting and said that everyone was now aware of how the PML-N respected laws. “Firing like this in the federal capital is terrorism” he said.
The Interior Minister added that an investigation had been launched to probe why Anjum Aqeel was not taken to the Margalla police station and the arrest orders for the concerned SP had been issued.
PML-N Anjum Aqeel was arrested by the police on Friday night over his involvement in the National Police Foundation Case. Upon arrival at the Shalimar police station, the police car carrying Aqeel was attacked by his supporters. After clashing with the police and aerial firing, Aqeel’s supporters managed to free him from custody and helped him escape.
The PML-N MNA is still at larger and his party has directed him to turn himself him in. Earlier on Saturday PML-N Chief Nawaz Shairf formed a disciplinary committee to look into the matter.
