Federal Minister for Communication and Postal Services Murad Saeed on Tuesday clarified that his father had not been detained by the Australian immigration authorities.

The minister tweeted: “Neither did my father go on a student visa, nor was he arrested.”

In the tweet, without naming anyone, the minister said, “Those who are themselves stripped at airports should stop finding comfort by slinging mud at others. It would be better for them.”

Earlier, it was reported that the father of Saeed had been detained on Monday by immigration authorities at Melbourne Airport over incomplete documentation.

The man, identified as Saeedullah, was taken into custody and shifted to immigration detention after he failed to convince immigration officials over the validity of the documents he was carrying with him.
