RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was shifted to a local hospital after he fell ill, on Tuesday.
Abbasi, a PML-N stalwart, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on July 18 on corruption charges in the LNG import contract case.
The former prime minister was shifted to a local Islamabad hospital after his health deteriorated in Adiala Jail, where he was sent on a judicial remand.
Last month, Abbasi had undergone a hernia surgery. He had been shifted to a local hospital from the jail on November 4.
Abbasi is accused of corrupt practices under section 9 (a) of National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, according to the probe authority.
Abbasi is accused of handing over a tender worth Rs220 billion to a company in which he was a shareholder himself.
