DALLAS: Pakistan Council of Dallas-Fort Worth (PCDFW) organized a celebration of Pakistan Independence Day by holding a Mushaira in Dallas, Texas. The event was attended by more than 160 guests at Qarni Grill in Irving Texas.
It was presided by renown journalist Anwar Iqbal. Moderator was well recognized PTV producer and poet Iqbal Haider. Well-known poets from all over USA participated and recited their poetry on Pakistan and Independence Day celebration.
Rehmat Shahid Jaffery recited Holy Qur’an and Shamim Ahmad Khan offered Hamd and Naat while other participants included Shaukat Zoha, Khalid Irfan, Masood Qazi, Dr. Amer Suleman, Anwer Iqbal, Younus Ijaz, Noor Amrohvi, Saeed Qureshi, Masroor Alam Raz, Qaisar Abbas, Zahra Chishty, Qaisar Abbas, Raza Shah, Hafiz Siddiqui, Ather Zuberi, Syed Fayyaz Hassan and Anila Shad.
The gathering offered dua and fateha on the recent passing away of Iftikhar Naseem and praised the literary services of the late poet for his life time services for Urdu.
On the occasion President PCDFW Akrama Khan thanked the audience and said that the organization plans to keep the tradition of celebrating Pakistan Independence Day by organizing Mushaira and a Conference on Pakistan in the future.
Aftab Siddiqui recited a poem of Faiz Ahmad Faiz whose 100th anniversary is being celebrated this year. The Secretary PCDFW Saeed Qureshi thanked the audience for making the event a huge success.
