JARANWALA: A woman cut off a man’s genitals, accusing him of attempted rape a day before his mehndi celebrations, it emerged on Tuesday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jaranwala Bilal Sulehri said that, according to an initial investigation, the woman and the man had been acquainted with each other and were neighbours.

The ASP said that the man was to marry someone else, but had gone to the woman’s house for unexplained reasons on the night of January 30.

The police officer said that when the man arrived, the woman allegedly attacked the man 'as an act of revenge' and cut off his genitals.

However, the woman’s family has alleged that the woman had been alone at home when the man entered with a knife and tried to rape her.

The family has claimed that the woman resisted the attempt, got hold of the knife and cut off the man's private parts in self-defence.

The wounded man was admitted at Civil Hospital Faisalabad, from where he was discharged today. He has yet to give his own statement on the incident.

The case from the groom’s family was registered today against the woman and further investigation into it is underway. The woman has not been arrested as of yet.
